Glass Bottle Beverage Line Planning
Plan a glass bottle beverage line for still or carbonated products with rinsing or washing, filling, closure, labeling and packing.

Product, Container and Capacity
Start by defining what is being made, how it is packed and what output range is realistic.
| Question | Planning note |
|---|---|
| Product | Water, juice, tea, soda or specialty beverage |
| Container | New or returnable glass bottle |
| Typical capacity | Project-specific; bottle handling and packing often define speed |
| Buyer decision | Rinsing vs washing, cap type and bottle return process |
Equipment Required
A complete solution should define upstream, filling, downstream and support equipment clearly.
- Bottle loading, rinser or washer
- Glass bottle filler for still or carbonated product
- Screw capper, crown capper or other closure
- Inspection, labeling and coding
- Packing and conveying designed for glass stability
Utilities and Layout Questions
These questions help avoid quotations that look cheap but miss factory requirements.
- Bottle storage and breakage handling
- Washing water and drainage if returnable bottles
- Power, compressed air and maintenance access
- Packing area and finished product movement
Quotation Preparation Checklist
Send these details when requesting a configuration discussion.
- Glass bottle drawing and closure type
- New or returnable bottle process
- Product type and filling method
- Capacity and packing format
- Factory layout and utilities

Define new versus returnable glass before selecting the bottle-handling route
Glass bottle projects change substantially with bottle source, returnable washing, product, fill condition and closure. Confirm the bottle drawing, strength and finish, crown or screw closure, target output and crate or carton format before comparing line configurations.
| Glass line block | New bottle route | Returnable bottle route |
|---|---|---|
| Bottle infeed | Depalletizing or manual loading | Decrating, sorting and bottle washing |
| Pre-fill quality | Rinsing and visible-damage checks | Residual liquid, base, sidewall and cleanliness inspection |
| Filling and closing | Product-specific filling plus crown, ROPP or screw closure | Same, with higher emphasis on bottle variation and rejects |
| End of line | Labeling, coding, carton or shrink packing | Label removal strategy, recrating and return logistics |
Confirm these points before requesting the quotation
- Declare whether bottles are new, one-way or returnable and describe their actual incoming condition.
- Provide bottle-finish and closure drawings with samples for crown, ROPP or screw-cap tooling review.
- Confirm beverage, filling temperature, carbonation where applicable and package pressure conditions.
- State required good bottles per hour for the primary bottle and the expected number of change formats.
- For returnables, define bottle sorting, wash chemistry, label removal and rejected-bottle handling.
- Specify crate, carton, tray or shrink-pack output and the finished-goods transfer to the warehouse.
Can the same machine fill PET and glass bottles?
Some equipment can be designed for multiple rigid containers, but bottle handling, rinsing, closures, transfer parts and line speeds must be checked. A multi-format requirement should be declared at RFQ stage.
What changes for returnable glass bottles?
Returnable lines can require decrating, sorting, intensive bottle washing, empty-bottle inspection and recrating, plus management of damaged or nonconforming bottles.
Which closure information is required?
Send the bottle finish and closure drawing, sample bottle and cap or crown, torque or sealing requirement, and any tamper-evidence expectation.
