Blow Mold Condensation: Cooling and Ambient Condition Review
Review blow-mold condensation using actual surface, environment and cooling records; verify both condensation response and bottle performance.
What to establish first
Distinguish condensation from a cooling-water leak and record where moisture appears. Compare mold cooling conditions with the surrounding air and process state; an arbitrary cooling adjustment can affect bottle qualification.
Three checks before a change
- Record ambient conditions, cooling supply/return and the observed moisture location. Review the instruments and timing so the data describe the same event.
- Inspect possible leak points through the authorised isolated maintenance procedure. Do not label every wet surface as condensation without evidence.
- Review environmental and cooling control options with the equipment owner. Verify changes against the intended bottle process and operating conditions.
Interpret the observed pattern
| Observed pattern | Next review |
|---|---|
| Condensation follows environment changes | Record actual humidity, temperature and the applicable dew-point basis with surface observations. Resolve the measurement basis before revising cooling conditions. |
| Condensation is local to a connection | Map the location and approved insulation/maintenance condition. A local observation does not establish that the whole cooling system is incorrectly sized. |
| Condensation stops after a cooling change | Verify the supplier’s cooling duty and bottle results as well. Removing visible water does not prove the revised setting meets the blowing process. |
Evidence to record
Use these fields as a worksheet. Keep individual results and comparison samples; an overall average alone may hide the affected condition.
| Record item | Required evidence |
|---|---|
| Moisture location and time | Identify the exact format, lot and document revision; attach a representative sample or record. |
| Ambient and cooling conditions | State the location, method, instrument and operating condition so a comparison can be repeated. |
| Leak-inspection findings | Link the observation to an individual sample and a common timestamp; retain both normal and affected cases. |
| Approved change and bottle results | Record the approved assessment, action, verification result and responsible person; keep unresolved items visible. |
Controlled trial and acceptance
Agree the observation, affected boundary and acceptance method before starting a trial. Identify the product-package combination, approved settings and responsible equipment or quality owner. A test must have a clear question and a controlled disposition for trial material.
Compare the existing and proposed condition with identified samples using the same measurement basis. Change only what the responsible owner has authorised. Include the relevant steady-running, stop or restart case; one passing sample does not establish repeatable operation.
Keep results, samples and configuration revisions together. Record what passed, what remains open and the exact approved scope. If a correction moves the defect to another process step or compromises another acceptance requirement, retain that result and continue the assessment.
Common question
Does moisture on a mold always indicate a leaking hose?
It can have more than one origin. Distinguish leakage from condensation using the conditions and approved inspection, rather than appearance alone.
Technical reading
The linked manufacturer material provides engineering context. This worksheet is an independently written diagnostic framework; the installed equipment’s approved instructions and the site’s product acceptance determine the actual procedure and limits.
