Can Beverage Line Planning
Plan a beverage can line for carbonated or still products with can handling, filling, seaming, coding and packing.

Product, Container and Capacity
Start by defining what is being made, how it is packed and what output range is realistic.
| Question | Planning note |
|---|---|
| Product | Carbonated soft drink, tea, juice or other can beverage |
| Container | Aluminum can size and lid specification |
| Typical capacity | Depends on filler, seamer and packing method |
| Buyer decision | Carbonated pressure filling or still beverage filling route |
Equipment Required
A complete solution should define upstream, filling, downstream and support equipment clearly.
- Can depalletizing or loading
- Can rinsing or ion air cleaning
- Filling machine matched to product
- Can seamer and lid handling
- Coding, inspection and packing
- Optional mixer, pasteurizer or tunnel
Utilities and Layout Questions
These questions help avoid quotations that look cheap but miss factory requirements.
- Can and lid storage
- CO2 or process utilities if needed
- Compressed air, power and drainage
- Packing line and carton/shrink area
Quotation Preparation Checklist
Send these details when requesting a configuration discussion.
- Can size and lid type
- Product carbonation and process requirements
- Capacity target
- Need for pasteurization or mixer
- Packing and export requirements

Treat the can, end, filler and seamer as one primary package system
A can line must coordinate the beverage condition with empty-can handling, filling, end feeding, seaming, inspection and downstream packing. The first technical brief should define the beverage, can and end specification, target good cans per hour and required final pack.
| Can line block | Main decisions | RFQ input |
|---|---|---|
| Product supply | Still, carbonated or sensitive product; temperature; pressure; hygiene route | Product family and process condition |
| Empty-can handling | Depalletizing, conveying, rinsing or ionized-air cleaning | Can drawing, pallet pattern and end supply |
| Filling and seaming | Filling method, foam control, seamer tooling and seam checks | Target good CPH and acceptance samples |
| Post-fill handling | Inspection, warmer or pasteurizer if required, coding, tray or carton packing | Final pack and warehouse interface |
Confirm these points before requesting the quotation
- Send the can body and end drawings plus representative physical samples when available.
- Confirm whether the beverage is still or carbonated and state the planned filling condition.
- Set the capacity target as good cans per hour for the primary can size, not only filler nameplate speed.
- Define tray, shrink, carton or loose-can handling and the required warehouse presentation.
- List available CO2, compressed air, cooling, power, drainage and process-water conditions.
- Agree how seam quality, fill level, coding, leakage and finished-pack output will be checked during trials.
What equipment is used in a beverage canning line?
Typical blocks include empty-can depalletizing and conveying, can cleaning, product supply, filling, end feeding, seaming, coding, inspection and secondary packing.
Why is the can-end specification needed before quotation?
The seamer tooling and setup depend on the can and end combination. Drawings and physical samples should be confirmed before final machine design and trials.
Should can capacity be stated in CPH?
Yes. State required good cans per hour, can size, product, number of formats, shift plan and final pack so the complete line can be balanced.
